Struggling a bit to get back on the creative train, the wait for the train is almost up.  *fingers crossed*

What is the point of an expedition?

This question is most often answered easily but not to easily with a real purpose behind the question.  I often wandered how this expedition that I have decided to undertake will affect my overall skills and satisfaction with fractal art and any form of art therein.

As I sat down to write this expedition, I felt a little overwhelmed.  I thought to myself, how do I encapsulate each milestone I have had with fractals, with the people I have met through fractal art and so on.  There are so many milestones, it is often hard to really know where to start.

Personally speaking, the most valuable part of my experience with fractal art happened about three years ago.  I joined a graphics design forum those three years ago and met some great people.  One person I met shortly after joining (online, not in real life, we live all over the world), is/was the owner of the site.  He and his wife create fractal art and I have always wandered about it since I saw it and never really knew what it was.  Since then I have been hooked on them, trying my best to be apart of the fractal art community with slight success.

From then on I have delved into hours of research and exploration of fractal art.  Everything from talking to other fractal artists to just good ol' fashion research.  I pride myself on being good at anything I decide to do, big or small, easy or tough, I except it all as a personal challenge.  Expeditions like this one can start at any time and last until you are satisfied with what you have found.  Personally, I want to know more as there is more to know.  My skills in fractal are are limited because of my lack of knowledge, time management and other stuff.  This expedition and blog I am hoping will resolve that, this is more or less to force myself to take the time to learn, research, grow and have fun while learning more of what there is to know about fractal art.

Lastly, this expedition was supposed to start at the beginning of the year and be a year long event.  As I have had a lot of personal things going on and some drastic changes in my life, things have not started off well.  Hopefully within the next month I can catch up on a lot of these as half of the fractals for the missing expeditions are done and waiting on me....:P

With each expedition/blog posting, I will release 5 new fractals each time with some background info on each.  Also I will at some point release each fractal in its entirety for your viewing pleasure.  They will not all be the same each time, though they may look the same, they are not.  It is my hope that others will read this blog and find its information useful with their endeavors in fractal art.  Until I get my own blog setup with wordpress, I plan to use my journal as a way to communicate this to everyone.  I should release the fractal part of the expedition later this week.  Please stay tuned for that.

Questions and comments are always welcomed.  Communication is key to the overall success of the learning experience.

Happy fractal making!

As the title suggests, I've decided to start a year long 'Fractal Expedition".

As you can guess it's more or less my personal journey in disovering new fractals and finding my own style while on that journey.  I actually meant to start last weekend but things happened and was unable to.  Like I will do this weekend, I'll double up on the entries to keep on track and any other time that I miss.

Everyone, especially the well known fractal artists have there own style, something that they are best at.  Tho I may never reach that level, my fractals in my own personal opinion are still one of a kind.  Even tho they may not exhibit some of the finese some seem to have learned using Apophysis and various other fractal making programs.  This is my own personal endeavor to discover myself as a fractal artist and discover a style I'm best at.  Some might say (some of my friends that know me and my fractals) will say that I already have a style.  From what I've been told, they like the 'detail' in my fractals.  Still trying to figure out what it is that fascinates them so much.  This, this expedition is that search while writing about my experience each week with 5 new fractals every week.  If I miss a week (like I did this time), I'll double up on the entries to catch up.

It is my hope that my friends and others, fractals artists and other artists alike will see my fractals and like the 'style' that I've developed towards the end of this year long expedition.  Along the way I will use tutorials to learn new and different things.  I'll experiment until I really discover something great and share it with this community and my friends.  Don't worry, I'll provide more than enough links to various resources and other fractal artists that continously inspire me.

I'm hoping to keep a blog for this, so stay tuned for that link at some point this weekend when both entries are posted for your viewing pleasure.  Also, as I'm sure some will ask, will they be viewable....yes they will....will they be printable....I will do my best, my pc isn't the best so I can only go but so big but I can always call on the fractal community for help on that part.  Feel free to leave me some feedback on each expedition and what you like and don't like about them.  I really want to know your opinions on them, improvements, details and so on.

Enjoy!

Other News

School started back up again and I gotta say I'm still excited.  Color Theory and Computer Illustration are my classes this time, gotta love that....lol  Things are getting started off pretty quickly this first week.  Tons to do and keep up with but worth every bit of effort I'm putting in.  Finally helped start a club for graphic designers, got a few events planned already including one for the Red Cross's: Paint the Town Red Fundraising event this coming March.  I'm really excited about that, meet new people and get my name out there as a graphic designer and artist.

It's Finally here!!

:iconteam-virtuoso:

Since the teams creation nearly a year ago, we have strived to prove ourselves among a vast network of amazing and talented artists.  We chose a theme that best represents exactly what Team Virtuoso stands for and practices when creating art.  'Virtuosos' because we are all people with a common interest that is art.  Then there is 'Technique', which is the way we choose to create our art, from scratch or simply put, creating something from the ground up with little to no resources.

We use the 'Virtuoso Technique' to give a 'real' visible shape to all the ideas the flow through our heads.  Our team member's individual techniques give new meaning to artistic execution and show our performance, skills and talents used in making artworks.

And thus, after little over a month of hard work.  We are extremely proud to present over 17 profound pieces of art that visualized each of our, new and old, artists interpretation of 'The Virtuoso Technique'.

On a side note, some of you may recognize some of the team members from Fathom, Slash Three, Deviant Art or the Behance Network.  That being said hold on to your seats, as this exhibition is surely to blow you away!  Enjoy!

- Our minds constantly run in every direction to catch the right idea. -

You can view all the pieces in the exhibition at our Teams Group Gallery: team-virtuoso.deviantart.com/g…

--------------------------------

It's been a long month, between working on the teams exhibition and getting my own personal stuff in order.  But' it's all worth it, the exhibition is finally released, and all the team's member's did an amazing job, couldn't have asked for more.

I'll be starting school for my Bachelor's in Graphic Design on October 1.  Just a few more weeks left!  I'm so excited and nervous all at the same time.  I'm sure everyone will soon see random stuff popping up from my classes.

As you can tell, my username has changed.  It was long over due that's for sure.  Not many where keen on the PheonRa name I started out with.  This one has been one of my nicknames for a long time now.  Figured I would make good use of it with my art.

With the name change comes a new identity...sort of.  I'm busy working on some new fractals and slowly working on other large art pieces.  Be sure and check out my recent fractals, I'm sure you will enjoy them.

Regards,

Will
